About Us
Newlab Engineering Limited was incorporated in 1987 as a consulting firm in the disciplines of civil and structural engineering as well as prime consulting in building projects.
In the ensuing years, Newlab Engineering has been involved heavily in healthcare and related projects. Design in these fields requires levels of attention to detail that are not commonly required in other occupancies. Our years of experience in these fields have taught us to care for the most minor of details, and the resultant whole will be what the Owner expects.
Some of our projects in healthcare have been highly technical dealing with such areas as Integrated Operating Theatres, Chemotherapy Drug Compounding Suites, Fluoroscopy Imaging Suites, CT Scan Suites, and Hemodialysis Units. Attention to detail in projects such as these is the foremost prerequisite.
The attitude taken when coordinating our designs with mechanical and electrical disciplines is to help with their “space” challenges, not “squeeze” them into unworkable spaces. Especially in technically involved projects such as healthcare and process occupancies where these systems may make up a majority of the overall design effort.
The principals of the company each have in excess of 30 years’ experience in their design fields. The steadily increasing wealth of experience is being applied to each and every project.
Max Mercer, P.Eng, has been a practicing Civil Engineer for 39 years and a founding partner in Newlab Engineering Limited. He has held many positions in the civil engineering design field. In 1987, Max began providing the civil design support for the wide variety of projects successfully completed by Newlab since that time.
Aubrey Greeley, P.Eng, has been a practicing structural/civil engineer for 39 years and a founding partner in Newlab Engineering Limited. He brought years of engineering experience with Newfoundland Power to the table with Newlab. In the subsequent years, since 1987, he has managed and directed the structural design efforts for the projects undertaken by Newlab.
Richard Bursey, CET, has been directing the building project prime consulting services at Newlab since its inception. Richard is also a founding partner in Newlab Engineering Limited. Richard has played the lead role in coordination of the majority of building projects undertaken by Newlab and its associated design partners. He especially enjoys the attention to detail routinely expected in healthcare projects.
